Role of Media in a democratic nation, India.

Indian media has more freedom of getting published any kind of news than any other country's media in the world. This freedom proves to be very helpful, sometimes, and very hurtful, other times.
With the given freedom, if good and positive news is covered and presented to the public in right manner it can be very helpful for the development of the nation.
India media is facing more criticism than praise.
According to me following are the main three reasons why Indian media is not doing well.

1. Approach:
Every morning when you read the news paper, almost the first new is related to some scandal/rape/theft/murder or anything which is negative. Isn't this show that nothing good is happening in the country?
No, Good things are also happening but these these are not getting place not on the front page. These news are written in the small font, in some small box.
If you start your day by the thinking that nothing can happen in this country, negative mood, you would think whole day that it is going to be bad.
Imagine, if the first news of the newspaper as well as on the television is Indian scientist won a Nobel prize. Then you will think of doing something in your field as great so that you can win recognition.
Hence, instead of negative approach if Indian media follow positive approach then orientation and thinking of people will change and so will the work strategy and thinking towards the country's situation and development will surely take place.

2. Accuracy:
In one newspaper or one channel i have read/heard of one news with some content and on other these are something else. When it comes to originality, the original news comes very different.
for example, i have read a news in the TIMES OF INDIA/ NDTV/IBN saying Amartya Sen favors Jan Lokpal Bill while others like DNA news/Money Control saying Amartya Sen is against the Bill and funniest part is that THE ECONOMIC TIME presented both the views equally. But, in next day's newspaper i read Amartya Sen saying he doesn't even mention any comment about the Jan Lokpal Bill, even he never saw any blueprint of the both bills. He only said best bill should come to win over corruption.

3. Biased
Indian media always present news which is related to the top class or meant for the top 5% of the society. even some newspaper agencies print one tabloid which have the news related to the celebrity's only, for example DELHI TIMES by TIMES OF INDIA. some news agencies are even favor some specific political parties.
Instead of covering the top 5% if the media cover news related to the 95% population and take their problems then our problem of disparity can easily be solved.

At last i wish to say that our media should present positive, accurate and unbiased news. only this can help India in its growth and development.
