CONSISTENCY: What makes you win!

Image
One of the finest cricket analysts and  commentators in India once said Vinod Kambli was a better player compared to Sachin Tendulkar . Yes, It's hard to believe! How can one become the god of Cricket and another just forgotten by cricket lovers when both were trained by the same coach - Ramakant Achrekar? The difference in what both have achieved in their life is mostly attributed by their "Attitude" and "Dedication" towards the game, explained the analyst. Attitude and dedication towards any goal in life can be measured by CONSISTENCY of efforts being put by the person in achieving it. You must have heard or read the story about Sachin's hardwork for the game of cricket. He used to wakeup at 4 AM to get a local train to reach to the play ground. From there he used to go to school to and just after school he used to play 3-4 more matches - this much he was doing at the age of 12 years. Unbelievable, but true. On the other hand, Vinod Kambli was a gifted pl

What have you earned?

Image
It's been a long time, very long actually, since I have written anything. Last I wrote about something it was in 2014, it's been five years now. In last five years, or in-fact in last so many years, I keep asking myself and to others what do we want to earn in life? In search of my answer, recently we I met an IPS officer who shared with me below insights which answered my question. "When you are old, people ask only two questions. First, how is your health? Second, how are your children/family doing?" Aren't these two things matter the most? Shouldn't we strive to earn only good health and prosperity of our family? In my opinion YES, wellness and well being of family are two most important things that we should work to achieve.  The answer of my search was lying there around me. It was only the matter realization. The answer was earning of my parents. We are a middle class family, staying on the lower side of the scale that represents midd

Learning from Failure

What do you do when you fail at something? You introspect! You find out mistakes. You decide not to do same mistakes again. You LEARN! But what if you fail again at similar thing? What about your learning from previous failure? Did you do some mistake while introspecting? Did you find right mistakes? Most of the times YES, the findings were correct but the scenario get changed. Life is an unbroken curve of continuous learning. People keep learning because they keep doing mistakes and people succeed because they learn from each and every mistake. One cannot apply same learning at all situations because situations keep changing, so as the factors of success and failure. There are three kinds of people in this world: 1. Those who learn from others' mistake. 2. Those who learn from their mistakes. 3. Those who do mistake and do not learn - and do mistakes again and again. People in first category are intellectually sharpest but these people are very few in the

The Burning Oil and The Shining Lamp

Image
Most of the time we get inspired by reading about successful people. We admire their success and aspire to become like them. But we do not know their success story. We do not know the effort made by them to achieve that success. We do not know about the hindering obstacles in their life and about the efforts made by them in overcoming those obstacles. In all, we see only 'The Shining Lamp' but we do not know about amount of 'The Oil' burnt to gain that shine. The thought of writing this blog came to my mind after seeing the result of Indian  Civil Services Examination - one of the most difficult examinations in the world. The result itself inspires many Indians to become like one of the selected 998 candidates. This year, 2013, total  5,36,506 candidates applied for this examination but only 0.186 percent bright candidates got chance to fulfill their dream of becoming Administrative Officer.  Selected candidates are now 'The Shining Lamps' for all the aspir

The Trough and The Crest

Sometimes you feel focused, self motivated, exhilarated and energetic but other times you feel dispersed, demoralized  and  exasperated. I called former phase as 'Being on The Crest' and later phase as 'Being on The Trough'. You, like everyone else, have a dream. A dream to get recognized, a dream to get satisfied, a dream to get stabilized. You may have arranged almost everything to plant the seed of your dream, but sometimes you are not able to arrange one thing - The fuel: the courage to sow the seeds.  While on the Crest, You should always motivate yourself - motivation to become courageous. While on the Crest, you should think about your dream, your present, your past and your present in the future!. While on the Crest, you should always think of harvesting the fruits of the seed, which you might have not yet planted, because that brings happiness, courage and whole lot of energy. The saddest part is that the span of the Crest is much smaller than the span of t

Role of Media in a democratic nation, India.

Indian media has more freedom of getting published any kind of news than any other country's media in the world. This freedom proves to be very helpful, sometimes, and very hurtful, other times. With the given freedom, if good and positive news is covered and presented to the public in right manner it can be very helpful for the development of the nation. India media is facing more criticism than praise.  According to me following are the main three reasons why Indian media is not doing well. 1. Approach: Every morning when you read the news paper, almost the first new is related to some scandal/rape/theft/murder or anything which is negative. Isn't this show that nothing good is happening in the country? No, Good things are also happening but these these are not getting place not on the front page. These news are written in the small font, in some small box. If you start your day by the thinking that nothing can happen in this country, negative mood, you would t

Joy Of Giving.

First time I experienced the JOG, joy of giving, on 09-Jul-2011. It was my friend's birthday and one of my friend came with the plan to celebrate the birthday with the little children of an orphanage.  We got the address of the 'Blessed Foundation' and discussed with the caretaker about our plan. With mutual consult we decided time of visit to the orphanage as 5:00 pm.  We got to know that there are 25 children living. Next thing for us was to select the items which can be presented to them as a gift and which could be beneficial for them. For that we went to Big Bazaar. First thing came to our mind was books, notebooks and pens. Besides these things, we took toys, chess board, and two rubber volleyball. We took lot of eatables such as chocolates, biscuits, candies and chips. We went on bikes - 3 bikes for 6 friends. We drove for more than 50 km and after putting so much of effort in finding the exact route we finally reached to the Blessed Foundation at 6:00 pm. We
